An Israeli public opinion poll, published Friday evening, showed a decline in Israeli confidence in Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, in the wake of his recent decisions regarding a plan to weaken the judiciary and dismiss Security Minister Yoav Gallant, which led to strained relations between Tel Aviv and the administration of US President Joe Biden.
According to the poll conducted by the “Midgam” Institute and iPanel for the Israeli Channel 12, Netanyahu is no longer the first choice for the Israelis, as he is the most suitable person to head the government, in light of the rising popularity of the head of the “National Camp” Benny Gantz, after the recent events in Israel.
When the participants in the poll were asked about the most suitable person to head the government and were offered two options, Gantz or Netanyahu, 38% of the respondents considered that Gantz was the most suitable, while 31% thought that Netanyahu was the most suitable for the position, while 25% said that none of them were suitable. And 6% said they did not know the answer to this question.
