Palestine signs cooperation agreements with China

Palestine today signed cooperation agreements with China in the course of President Mahmoud Abbas’ visit to Beijing.

In the presence of President Mahmoud Abbas and Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing, the Palestinian delegation signed several agreements with the Chinese side, including a twinning agreement between Ramallah and Wuhan, an agreement on the teaching of the Chinese language in Palestinian schools, an agreement on visa exemption for holders of diplomatic passports, and a project for the completion of paving roads in Ramallah.

There was also an agreement to establish technical delegations for the four projects.

“Today, we have jointly announced the establishment of a Chinese-Palestinian strategic partnership, which will become an important milestone in the history of bilateral relations,” China Central Television (CCTV) quoted Xi as saying.

“Having encountered epochal global changes and new challenges in the Middle East, China is ready to strengthen its coordination and cooperation with Palestine to promote an all-encompassing, just and longstanding resolution of the Palestinian issue,” Xi added.

This came following talks between President Abbas and his Chinese counterpart Xi.

Abbas is paying an official visit to China between June 13 and 16 at the invitation of Xi.
