Palestinian political prisoner in Israeli jails Kamel Mahmoud Atatra completes today 20 years behind Israeli prison bars, according to the Palestinian Prisoner’s Society (PPS).
Atatra, who hails from the town of Ya’bad in the northern West Bank province of Jenin, was arrested on 1 July 2003, and was sentenced to a life in prison for his resistance of the Israeli occupation. He’s currently incarcerated in the highly fortified Israeli prison of Gilboa.
Hamdia’s mother and brother passed away two years ago while he was in prison, and he was denied his right to bid his mom and brother a last farewell by the Israeli occupation.
Israeli authorities are currently incarcerating more than 4,700 Palestinian prisoners for resisting its occupation of their homeland.
