Palestinian prisoner institutions warned that the approval of a law allowing the execution of Palestinian detainees marks one of the most dangerous phases in the history of the Palestinian prisoners’ movement, stressing that the legislation was drafted specifically to target Palestinians following years of attempts by the Israeli settler-colonial system to formalize executions already carried out outside legal frameworks.
The institutions said the law represents a grave violation of international law and forms part of a broader system of genocide, ethnic cleansing, forced displacement, and apartheid policies, extending repression into prisons and detention camps where prisoners face systematic torture and attempts to physically and psychologically eliminate them, amid ongoing international failure to halt crimes against Palestinians.
