According to United Nations figures cited in the report, 569 Palestinians have been injured in settler attacks since the beginning of 2026, compared with 832 in all of 2025, 362 in 2024, and 376 in 2023. Among the casualties was a 14-year-old Palestinian boy shot dead by a settler northeast of Ramallah.
700 Students Affected by 13 Settler Assaults on Education
Education Cluster data analyzed by Save the Children documented 13 settler attacks on West Bank schools since the start of the year, directly harming roughly 700 students and disrupting access to education for displaced children.
International humanitarian organization Save the Children has issued a stark warning over what it describes as an unprecedented escalation in the forced displacement of Palestinian children across the occupied West Bank, driven largely by intensifying settler violence.
According to the organization’s latest findings, more than 1,000 Palestinian children were compelled to leave their homes during the first half of 2026 as a direct result of mounting attacks by Israeli settlers and sustained threats against Palestinian communities. This figure represents half of the total number of children displaced by settler-related violence over the previous three years combined — approximately 2,000 children between January 2023 and December 2025.
The report points to a sharp rise in the frequency and severity of settler attacks, with United Nations data showing a 45 percent increase in incidents during the first half of 2026 compared with the same period the previous year. UN figures further indicate that 569 Palestinians have been injured in settler attacks since the start of 2026, a number that, while below the 832 injuries recorded throughout 2025, continues a troubling multi-year pattern of violence that stood at 362 in 2024 and 376 in 2023.
Among the most tragic incidents documented was the killing of a 14-year-old Palestinian boy, shot by a settler northeast of Ramallah. Beyond direct physical violence and threats, newly released data from the West Bank Protection Consortium reveals that 70 percent of displaced families identified threats targeting women and children — particularly the threat of sexual violence — as a decisive factor in their decision to flee.
The impact on children’s education has been especially severe. Data from the Education Cluster, analyzed by Save the Children, documented 13 separate settler attacks on schools across the West Bank since the beginning of the year, directly affecting approximately 700 students and disrupting learning for some of the region’s most vulnerable children.
Save the Children cautioned that the psychological and humanitarian toll on Palestinian children losing their homes and safe environments is severe and long-lasting, calling for urgent international action to protect children and halt the ongoing cycle of displacement and violence in the occupied West Bank.
