Daily Arrests Become a Core Tool of Israel’s Sweeping Offensive in the West Bank
The Palestinian Prisoners’ Club human rights association reported that 3,600 arrests have been recorded across the West Bank since the beginning of 2026, alongside thousands of field interrogations, describing the pattern as part of an Israeli policy aimed at expanding the scope of collective targeting and repression.
Field Interrogations Used as Tool of Repression Amid Home Raids and Family Displacement
The association said occupation forces have entrenched the use of field interrogation as a fixed repressive tool, involving detaining residents for extended hours, removing families from their homes, and carrying out extensive acts of vandalism and physical and psychological abuse.
Village of Tal Sees Arrest Wave Peak Following Deadly Israeli Raid
The escalation reached its peak in the town of Tal in Nablus governorate, where dozens of residents were arrested and interrogated in the field following a deadly raid carried out by occupation forces there the previous day, as part of what the association described as a policy of revenge and collective punishment.

In a statement issued Saturday, the association said these daily arrests have become one of the principal tools of the comprehensive offensive being waged across the West Bank. It added that occupation authorities have entrenched the use of field interrogation as a fixed instrument of repression, a practice that includes detaining residents for extended periods, forcing families out of their homes, and carrying out widespread acts of vandalism alongside physical and psychological abuse.
The association stressed that the majority of recent arrests and field interrogations stemmed from residents confronting settler attacks and attempting to defend their land and towns, at a time when settler assaults are intensifying under the protection of occupation forces.
This escalation reached its peak in the town of Tal, in Nablus governorate, where dozens of residents were arrested and subjected to field interrogation following a deadly raid carried out by occupation forces in the town the day before, as part of what the association characterized as a policy of revenge and collective punishment.
Occupation forces launched a wide-ranging arrest and field interrogation campaign from Friday evening through Saturday morning, affecting at least 80 residents across various West Bank areas, including previously released prisoners. The Prisoners’ Club warned that the number of detainees is expected to keep rising in the coming hours, as raids and incursions continue across several West Bank governorates.
According to official rights data from early July 2026, the number of prisoners held in Israeli jails exceeds 9,400, including 3,244 administrative detainees — a figure that does not include those held in military-run detention camps.
