Israeli forces escalated their aerial strikes on the Gaza Strip on Thursday evening, with warplanes hitting a mosque and several residential structures in scattered areas. The strikes destroyed the al-Nour Mosque in central Gaza city — a mosque that had already sustained damage in earlier attacks during the ongoing assault. In Gaza City’s Zeitoun neighborhood, southeast of the city, an airstrike hit the home of the al-Sarhi family shortly after residents were issued evacuation warnings; medical sources at al-Ma’amadani Hospital confirmed two Palestinians arrived with injuries of varying severity from the strike, which caused extensive damage to the surrounding area.

A separate airstrike struck another home in the Yarmouk area of central Gaza City, wounding two people who were transferred to al-Shifa Medical Complex for treatment; local sources said the strike sparked a major fire and caused significant damage to the targeted house and neighboring buildings, deepening panic among residents. Similar strikes were reported in Deir al-Balah, where Israeli warplanes hit the home of resident Jaber al-Najjar (also known as Sheldan), located at the start of Wadi al-Sheikh Dawoud Street on its eastern side, near the Abu Samra roundabout.
Ceasefire Violations Continue Amid Mass Displacement and Protest
These strikes come as Israel continues to breach the ceasefire agreement that took effect on October 10, 2025. Despite the declared truce, military operations, artillery shelling, and airstrikes have not stopped, resulting in thousands of additional deaths and injuries since the deal was signed. Official figures put the overall Palestinian death toll from the war, which began on October 7, 2023, at more than 73,000, with over 173,000 wounded. The sustained military campaign has also destroyed roughly 90% of Gaza’s civilian infrastructure, making daily life nearly impossible amid the collapse of basic services. Civil defense spokesperson Mahmoud Basal said wide areas of the Gaza Strip are currently experiencing large-scale forced displacement, driven by repeated Israeli threats to target buildings, pushing families to flee toward areas they believe to be safer.
Amid this escalation, a large public march took place in Gaza City, organized by national and popular factions, demanding an end to the war and the lifting of the blockade. Marchers carried banners denouncing international silence over the ongoing violations against Palestinians and affirmed their determination to remain on their land, rejecting any displacement plans. The march set off from al-Saraya intersection in the city center and headed toward the ruins of the Palestinian Legislative Council building, under the banner “A Thousand Days of Genocide.” Participants voiced anger over continued restrictions on humanitarian and medical aid, warning of an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe without urgent international intervention, and called on the international community and rights organizations to pressure Israeli authorities to halt the offensive and fully open crossings for essential supplies.
