Death toll from Israeli assault on Jenin rises to six

The death toll of Palestinians killed as a result of the Israeli military assault on the northern West Bank city of Jenin yesterday has risen to six with the death today of 48-year-old Amjad Aref Abu Jaas, who succumbed to his wounds sustained in the assault, according to the Ministry of Health.

It said Jaas was shot by a live bullet in the abdomen and was in critical condition until he was pronounced dead this morning.

Five youths, including a 15-year-old child, were killed yesterday in the assault that lasted for more than 10 hours, and more than 90 were wounded, over 20 of them said to be in critical condition.

Jaas’ son, Wasim, was also killed in an Israeli military assault on Jenin on January 25 during which nine Palestinians were killed.

The Israeli military shot and killed or caused the death of 170 Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza Strip since the start of the year, according to Health Ministry statistics.
