Netanyahu Threatens to Quit Likud Amid Unprecedented Internal Rift, Maariv Reports

Translated report — Internal disputes within Israel’s Likud party over the composition of its list for the next election are intensifying, according to the Israeli daily Maariv, as cited by Quds News Network.

A Sharp Rift at the Top

The newspaper reported sharp disagreements between Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Likud party center chairman Haim Katz, and Knesset member David Bitan.

Netanyahu’s Ultimatum

Sources within Likud told Maariv that Netanyahu sent Katz a strongly worded message in recent days, stating that he would leave the party — along with senior Likud figures — if he does not get the appointments he wants on the party’s list. Likud officials reportedly believe the threat is intended to pressure Katz into accepting Netanyahu’s demands rather than a genuine intention to dismantle or exit the party.

Katz Digging In

Sources within Likud said Katz is insisting on securing 10 appointments within the list, which the sources said could risk tearing the party apart.

Talks Expected in the Coming Days

According to the report, the feuding sides within Likud are expected to hold a meeting in the coming days in an attempt to reach a resolution acceptable to all parties. Party officials said the wave of leaks about the dispute is intended to build pressure on one side to accept the other’s demands.
