1,000 Days of War: Gaza’s Government Media Office Releases Grim Casualty Toll
As the war on Gaza entered its 1,000th day, the territory’s Government Media Office released a sobering set of updated figures documenting the human and humanitarian toll of what it describes as the most brutal war in modern history.
According to the figures, the number of people killed and recorded at Gaza’s hospitals since October 7, 2023 has climbed to 73,066, alongside roughly 9,500 people still missing or unaccounted for, believed to be buried under rubble. The wounded and injured total 173,514, including more than 19,000 people requiring long-term rehabilitation care.
The office’s statement underscored that, even 1,000 days on, no corner of Gaza has remained untouched by the war, with displacement, loss, and destroyed infrastructure continuing to define daily life for the population, even as international attention on the territory has fluctuated with other regional developments.
