The White House said on Tuesday that it had closely followed the Israeli strikes that killed three Islamic Jihad leaders in Gaza, adding that it was aware of reports that 10 civilians were killed “tragically” in the strikes.
“We call on both sides to de-escalate the situation,” said a spokesperson for the White House National Security Council.
He added, “Israel has the right to defend itself and its people in the face of indiscriminate missile attacks carried out by terrorist groups.”
