China, through its permanent representative to the United Nations, Geng Shuang, called on the Zionist entity to stop its attacks on Palestinian lands and resources and its provocations and to lift its blockade on the Gaza Strip, affirming its continued strong support for the Palestinian people and their just cause to restore their legitimate national rights, and support for the establishment of the sovereign state of Palestine. In a briefing to the Security Council on the situation in the Middle East, including the Palestinian issue, Geng called on the Zionist entity to immediately stop its attacks on the lands and resources of the Palestinian people and the need to stop the illegal expansion of settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories. Stressing that “settlement activities violate international law and Security Council Resolution No. 2334,” noting that the Zionist entity “has continued, since the beginning of this year, to advance its unilateral actions regarding giving light to settlers to return and build new settlements and legalize them.”
With regard to the holy places, Geng stressed the need to respect and adhere to the current historical situation of the holy religious places in Jerusalem, stressing the need for the Zionist entity to stop its provocations, guarantee the right of worship for Muslim worshipers, and maintain the peace and tranquility of the holy places.
“The plight of the Palestinian refugees should be alleviated and the economic and living needs of Palestine must be met,” he said, calling on the Zionist entity to lift the siege on Gaza as soon as possible. and “that the flow of people and reconstruction supplies to and from Gaza remain unimpeded.”
