Eastern Churches in Bethlehem celebrate “Feast of the Greens”

Christians who follow the eastern calendar in the cities of: Bethlehem, Beit Jala, and Beit Sahour, begin on Friday their celebrations of the Feast of Al-Khidr, “St. George,” the patron saint of Deir Al-Khidr.

The feast, which lasts for two days, includes Vespers, and then on the second day the Divine Liturgy.

The rituals of the feast include the citizens walking barefoot from their places of residence in the cities of Bethlehem, Beit Sahour, and Beit Jala, to Deir al-Khader within the framework of the concept of “vow,” in addition to lighting candles, iron shackles, vows with sheep, offering olive oil, and children wearing green uniforms. , and cut hair.
A commercial bazaar opened since morning in Bethlehem, in addition to various activities for children.
