Palestinians in Europe Conference in the Swedish city of Malmö, will kick off today, Saturday, in its twentieth session, as it is considered one of the largest annual gatherings of Palestinians in the European continent.
Thousands of Palestinians from Europe of various orientations will participate in the conference, as well as a number of deputies in the Swedish, Italian and Irish parliaments, in addition to representatives of the Social Democratic Party, the Left Party and the Environment Party in Sweden, as well as a number of Swedish writers and members of municipal councils there.
It is attended by a large gathering of Swedish and European politicians, activists, and active personalities in human rights, media, economic, artistic and cultural affairs from Europe and the world.
After 20 years of organizing this conference, the organizers chose a slogan that confirms the main goal of organizing it two decades ago, which is to plead for the right of return under the title “75 years…and we will return.” The conference is scheduled to take place on May 27.
The conference will resume directly after 3 years of interruption due to the Corona pandemic, which makes the organizers count on a large public attendance of more than 18,000 people, which is the number that was recorded in the last conference before the pandemic.
During the conference, nine parallel conferences will be held, the most important of which are the Palestinian Women’s Conference in Europe and the Palestinian Youth Conference.
On the sidelines of the conference, events, workshops and festivals will be held in Arabic, Swedish and English with the aim of shedding light on all Palestinian national issues, in addition to artistic events, heritage exhibitions and markets, according to the conference organizers.
The head of the (Palestinians in Europe Conference), Amin Abu Rashed, explained that the conference, which was held for two decades, annually attracts thousands of Palestinians from Europe of various orientations, pointing out that the conference toured major European capitals and cities under the banner of Palestine.
And he indicated that the conference, which is being held under the slogan (75 years and we will return), came to affirm “our right to return to Palestine, all of Palestine.”
Abu Rashid called on our Palestinian people in Europe to participate extensively and interact with the conference and join the symbolic return convoys that will head to Malmö from all over the European continent.
